How To Own Page 1 On Google For Your Business

Do you own the top spot on Google for your name? Do you dominate the page?

digital strategy

Today I want to talk about how important it is to make sure that you have the right profile links setup to dominate the search engines.

When you type your business name into Google the first thing you will see, hopefully, is your business name. Unfortunately, many businesses do not see that.

Did you know that 1 billion names are searched in Google every single day.

What that means really simply is that your customers, your prospects, your staff, your friends, even your first date way back when, has probably Google’d you at some point.

Something else to consider is that about 94% of people only look at the first page of search engine results, so if you need to make a good impression you better be on the first page otherwise you won’t be found.

The first problem is that most small businesses don’t have good quality listings on the first page results. As a matter of fact only about 2% of businesses actually dominate the first page of Google, for instance, with a search for their own business name.

The next problem is that only about half of businesses own the first result when somebody does a search for their business name, and about 25% of small businesses have no positive content at all the first page to help their businesses reputation.

And even worse, about 15% of all businesses have at least one negative result on the first page.

Now we can discuss how you’re going to fix that problem.

Creating social profiles that rank well

The number one social media profile that your business needs to create is a LinkedIn profile.

LinkedIn ranks higher than any other social profile for small businesses. It’s also great for networking, which is the true purpose of LinkedIn, but more importantly for you its going to rank your business in a top position.

Facebook and Twitter follow behind that, but you want to make sure that you create a very positive LinkedIn profile first.

Make sure that you don’t leave out the the hottest social media platform out there, Google+. Google+ is growing rapidly and is much more relevant than Facebook and Twitter for businesses.

Create a Google+ profile today and then set up authorship for your website. This will enable you to not only rank well but also to add a picture of yourself or your business next to your listings. This is huge for click through ratios.

Once we are done with the big three in social media, we can start talking about WordPress. You’ve probably heard about WordPress somewhere before and know that it is a blogging platform.

There are multiple blogging platforms out there to choose from like Tumblr and Blogger, but WordPress is the best. WordPress outranks Tumbler and blogger blogs much more often. So setup your wordpress blog now, and start blogging!

Also important to create is video channels. YouTube is by far the most popular video platform out there. You may know already that Google owns YouTube. And traditionally YouTube ranks very well.

Another great video platform is called Vimeo. You don’t need to create special content just for Vimeo, you can use the exact same content used on your YouTube profile.

Video is one of the best ways to rank well in search engines!

Finally let’s discuss photo sites. If you want to put your photos online in an effort to draw traffic there are a lot of different options to choose from.

However, one site stands out by far. Flickr is the only site that ranks anywhere near the first two pages in the research done.

Other recommended profiles to help you get more rankings include Meetup, Foursquare, Digg, StumbleUpon, Squidoo, About.me, and Delicious.

Get to work!

The best way to own page 1 is to have a ton of profile links. The more you create, the better the chance that they will show up.

Obviously, you want all these profiles to have a link back to your website.

Get started now and you will be dominating page 1 in no time.
